Sexpert predicts big trends for 2021 – including V-Power and Zoom sex

With the coronavirus pandemic raging on, life as we know it has altered drastically this year.

The crisis has caused a number of challenges for people, especially when it comes to dating, relationships and sex.

While we attempt to adapt to the new social distancing rules and guidelines, Annabelle Knight has been thinking about how all of this will affect our time in the bedroom in the future.

As a result, the sex and relationship expert has shared seven predictions for key sex trends that will impact 2021.

Speaking at Lovehoney’s Virtual Camp, Annabelle, who often provides advice on TV shows such as ITV1’s This Morning, said: “Yes, we will all be living with Covid in 2021 but, if anything, that makes sex even more important.

“The sex trends for 2021 will embrace Covid and show how couples are adapting to still enjoy intimacy while staying safe. Look out for more sexual mindfulness, lots of Zoom sex and some V-power!”

Here she breaks down seven key sex trends to look out for in 2021, exclusively for Mirror Online readers.

Sexual Mindfulness

Mindfulness doesn’t stop when you leave your yoga class or finish your meditation, it also applies to your bedroom activities. Revolutionising the way modern couples have sex, sexual mindfulness promotes a slow, pleasure-focused and non-goal orientated sexual encounter. It takes the goal of having orgasms off the table and refocuses the aim to simply enjoying the current moment.

Long-Distance Play

A new developmental that long-distance couples will be praising the sex gods for, long-distance sex toy play allows partners to connect to each other’s sex toys via their phone. With most of us locked up indoors at the moment, long-distance play might be as close as we get to the real thing. With app sex toys such as the Desire App-Controlled Love Egg Vibrator and Desire Knicker Vibrator, you can control the kind of stimulation your partner receives when you are hundreds of miles apart. So, you can now give your partner an orgasm while sitting in a room on the other side of the planet – seriously modern living.

V-Power

Never has working out your pelvic floor muscles been so cool and it’s only getting cooler. From yoni eggs and Kegel balls to ‘coregasm’ workouts, there’s a product and exercise regime to get you having more intense orgasms, increased arousal and… to help with that incontinence. Women are taking charge of their sexual health much more than they did previously. From a medical perspective, there are more physiotherapists, specialised in women’s health, who can help women strengthen their pelvic floors. They might also advise women to get some of these toys to do their homework with — making the therapy much more effective.”

Zoom Sex

Video platforms such as Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, Whereby or FaceTime will see a boom in partners connecting when they apart with video sex sessions. Do not feel obliged to do anything too gynaecological or graphic. The main plus with these platforms is you can use them to tease and tantalise each other, and go only as far as you are both comfortable with. Kick things off by sharing a candle-lit meal together like a normal date. If you want to take things further, move on to sexier stuff.

New Kids On The Block

We all have our old favourites when it comes to sex toys, but it’s never a bad idea to try something new. Although traditional vibrators will always be popular, there is a new type of vibe on the market: namely touch-free clitoral stimulators, like the Womanizer Pro40 and the Womanizer Starlet 2, which use sucking and air pressure to arouse and excite the clitoris. These new toys use motorised power to deliver an undulating suction to the exposed clitoris.

Male Pleasure

With sexual fluidity becoming increasingly accepted, men will reap the benefits as they are free to explore more of their sexuality without fear of judgment. Prostate stimulation and anal play will be widely accepted as pleasure techniques used by men of any sexual orientation. Sex toys are at the forefront of this movement with more and more anal play toys becoming available, encouraging men to explore this once forbidden erogenous zone.

Responsive Technology

Another development in the sex toy industry is responsive technology, which aims to remove the awkwardness that can come with controlling a toy during sex by introducing technology that is easier to use and more intuitive. We-Vibe’s new toy Chorus uses a squeeze sensor to increase the intensity of its vibrations – basically, you squeeze the remote and it speeds up and when you release it returns to baseline. Other toys are using movement sensors that respond when the toy is rubbed.
