Seth Rogen claims his new Christmas show is receiving such bad reviews because white supremacists are ‘review-bombing’ it.

The comedian, 39, recently teamed up with Sarah Silverman , 51, for a Christmas-themed animated TV show that is decidedly not suitable for children.

Airing on HBO Max, Santa Inc. tells the story of an elf – voiced by Sarah – who wants to be the first female Santa Claus.

Santa Inc. was launched on the platform on Thursday, and has so far been subject to fairly terrible ratings.

The series has a dismal score of 3% on Rotten Tomatoes, and an IMDB rating of 1.1, making it the lowest-rated show ever on the the site.

Writer Seth says the bad reviews are the work of ‘white supremacists’ who are intentionally review-bombing the series: leaving bad reviews simply because of Santa Inc’s subject matter.

Taking to Twitter, the Bad Neighbours star wrote: ‘We really p**sed off tens of thousands of white supremacists with our new show #SantaInc which is now available on HBOMAX!’

Seth’s white supremacist theory led to some people mocking him on social media, with one person asking if he had ‘considered the audience rating isn’t based on white supremacy and that maybe it’s actually just not that good?’.

However some comments, particularly in the quote retweets, were filled with alarming racism and vile antisemitism; both Seth and Sarah are Jewish.

Of the 267 audience reviews of Santa Inc on IMDB, many complain about the politics in the series.

One reviewer who left one star ranted that Seth and Sarah are ‘political activists’ ‘trying to shove down our throat their crazy agenda.’

Another asked why politics and race must ‘be brought into EVERYTHING today,’ while yet another reviewer said the show was ‘white people telling white people that they are bad.’

Others simply said they didn’t find it funny, or found the crass language to be offensive.

The series hasn’t been receiving great reviews from critics either, with Variety calling it ‘dour and heavy,’ and Decider stating it seems to ‘go blue for blue’s sake.’

Santa Inc is streaming now on HBO Max.
