He is the veteran comedian who is never afraid to poke fun at himself.

But funnyman Dave Hughes has admitted even his children make him the butt of their jokes.

‘They like to mock me,’ he told Woman’s Day on Monday, as he kicked off his national tour across Australia.

‘They think I’m an object of ridicule and they’re constantly trying to humiliate their father.  

The TV host, 48, shares Rafferty, 9, Sadie, 7 and Tess, 6 with wife Holly and frequently shares the ups-and-downs of raising a family with his social media followers.

In 2015, the lovable Aussie larrikin posted a hilarious video to YouTube in which he seen trying in vain to keep his children under control.

Dave regularly refers to Holly and his children in his stand-up routines, and has often taken his family with him when he goes on tour.

The Melbourne-based comic previously admitted he struggles to get his children ‘to take me seriously’. 

‘The girls get together and they just tease me and they think they’re the funniest people in the world because they’re not listening to dad,’ he told BW Magazine.

The father-of-three’s new show is called Hairy – a reference to his increasingly unkempt hairstyle in recent years.

The comedian’s national tour began at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival on Thursday.

Dave will be taking in venues across Australia’s east coast – finishing in Sutherland on June 7.
