'See your beauty through it': Ryan Destiny shared the most refreshing post for anyone dealing with skin issues

For many of us, attaining clear skin seems like a debilitating, endless battle and concerns over mental health regarding appearance are at an all-time high.

To make matters worse, social media platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat have seen a significant increase in their use of filters, inciting a snowball effect to the point where Instagram has banned its cosmetic surgery filters. This may be one step in the right direction but does not change the fact that we are constantly plagued with seemingly perfect images of celebrities and their smooth, blemish-free canvases. However, there is one celebrity shedding light on the realities of this clear skin journey and its imperfections.

Ryan Destiny, singer and actress best known for her role in the popular Fox musical U.S. drama, Star, recently took to social media to share that beneath all of the glitz and glam, celebrities deal with skin issues, too.

Taking to social media in a candid post, Ryan wrote: “My skin all last year literally went through a huge bump. I finally got it to a better place. It’ll never be perfect. Never has been. Just more healthy. Healthis the goal and sometimes even that isn’t enough. But you are.

“To anyone going through skin issues, just try to see your beauty through it all. I think during that time, you learn a lot about yourself. You are still THAT gurl. Regardless of the beauty marks.”

The post was accompanied by a cute, bare-faced selfie after sun-kissed photos of a girls trip to the islands last month featuring Normani, Lori Harvey, Jordyn Woods and Ryan Destiny had been circulating on social media.

With compliments on Ryan’s complexion quick to follow, fans praised Ryan for her transparency and flocked to her replies to share personal anecdotes of their own skin troubles. Hopefully more celebrities will follow suit and bridge the gap between virtual and reality.
