Secret Garden starring Colin Firth has its release dated pushed from April to August


The Secret Garden is the latest movie to have its release date moved amid coronavirus fears… after Mulan, F9, A Quiet Place 2 are pushed

The Secret Garden is a highly anticipated film starring Colin Firth that was supposed to open in the US on April 17.

But on Friday Deadline reported the drama, which is directed by Marc Munden, will be moved to August 14.

‘A film that most certainly appeals to a family and older audience, the studio has has taken the decision to move out of a potentially high-risk period as the coronavirus situation continues to escalate,’ the studio said.

It was also shared that the office that made the movie, Studiocanal, is shitting its offices temporarily as a precautionaire measure as the coronavirus continues to spread. 

Starting on Monday, the office will be closed for at least two weeks; executives will be working remotely.  

The movie is about a young girl named Mary Lennox whose parents suddenly die.

While looking around the lush estate she finds a hidden that is full of magic. 

Mary is played by Dixie Egerickx and her uncle is played by Firth. Julie Walters stars as Mrs. Medlock.

Also in the cast are Maeve Dermody, Sonia Goswami. Jemma Powell and Edan Hayhurst. 

This is one of many films that have already seen their release date pushed back as the fears of the coronavirus are mounting.

The James Bond movie No Time To Die starring Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas was one of the first to be moved; the film will now open in November.

Another movie that has gotten a new release date is F9, which stars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriuez.

It will now open in 2021.

And the movie Mulan will not open on March 27. A new release date has not been shared. Disney also pushed The New Mutants and Antlers.

‘As you know this has been a rapidly evolving situation and I wanted to make you aware that we are postponing the releases of Mulan, The New Mutants, and Antlers out of an abundance of caution. We truly believe in the moviegoing experience, and we are looking at new potential 2020 release dates to be announced at a later date,’ Disney said in a statement.

A Quiet Place 2 starring Emily Blunt has also been moved from its March 8 release date.
