He’s just released his debut album Truth In My Steps on Eats Everything’s Edible label. The record reflects his journey in music.

Seb says: “All of my experiences are portrayed in this album. From pirate radio to some of the biggest clubs in the world, from raver to DJ. They represent what’s great about both UK club culture and the UK sound. I think the UK is the pulsating heart of electronic music, you only have to look at what’s come from here… hardcore, jungle, garage, dubstep and grime. I wanted to incorporate all of these sounds to tell my story… The Truth In My Steps.”

We caught up with Seb and to mark the release of Truth In My Steps we asked him to compile and talk us through a playlist of influential music.

Daniel Caesar – Japanese Denim

“We always put Tiny Desk Concert on at home, nothing beats hearing artists perform live in small locations and I play this one a lot to my daughter. His voice is so soulful it’s almost soothing.”

Ghetts – Fine Wine

“I think it’s safe to say he’s one of the greatest UK MC’s right now and to think he only just signed to a major after 15 years in the industry. His storytelling is off the chart not only on this track but throughout the whole album, incredible development and mastery of the art.”

Everything Is Recorded – Pretending Nothing’s Wrong featuring Ghostface Killah (CLIPZ Remix)

“Richard Walker, Ghostface and  CLIPZ? What a combination. Lovely soulful d&b and hip-hop combination makes this a personal fave.”

Mac Miller- What’s the Use?

“I love the bass line on this track and just the general funk and soul feel, such an amazing artist we lost too soon. I think I play Swimming more than any other album I listen to.”

Nines – Airplane Mode featuring NSG

“NW London’s Finest!!! Reckon he should have done another verse at the end of this track but overall the production and collaboration works so well. Again another soulful beat with his impeccable laid back flow.”

M1llionz – No Rap Cap

“My fiance’s little brother got me into M1llionz and this one has been on repeat since, he’s definitly one to watch for the future.”

Chip – No Goat

“When you think about top 5 MC’s in the country, Chip has always stayed in that position over the last 10+ years. Lyrically there aren’t many who can touch Chip, other than Wiley, he is the war lord of the UK.”

Gabzy & Melvitto – Brazil featuring Blanco

“Quite chilled and simple vibes on this one but very natural sounding, Blanco collab works so well.”

Baitest Sound · Capo Lee · Jme · Frisco · Shorty

“This ones been on repeat since it came out, BBK’s finest alongside Capo Lee who’s definitely on fire right now. Straight up barring on this beat.”

Burna Boy- Ye

“This one always comes on when our daughter is with her Nan and we’ve had a few drinks at home, dancing around the living room.”
