Seann Walsh has left Twitter, saying trolls have made his life ‘absolute hell’.
The 34-year-old became public enemy number one on social media back in 2018 when he was pictured kissing his Strictly Come Dancing partner Katya Jones when both of them were in relationships.
And the comedian has delivered a giant ‘f*** you’ to those who abused him on Twitter.
Seann tweeted: ‘It’s happened. I’ve become the guy posting from his notes. It started as a tweet but I was rambling. I can only apologise.’
In a statement written on the notes app, the star said: ‘Been off Twitter for around a week. I had to come back on to DM someone. Quickly checked the mentions. This app has contributed to making the last couple of years of my life absolute hell.
‘When I was in my mid twenties, before there was even the term “troll”, I had a TV show. It wasn’t good but I was young and inexperienced. Nonetheless, that should have been an exciting time in my life. But instead I remember it for someone tweeting me “what is @seannwalsh and how do we make it die?” I must hear that echo in my mind every few weeks.
‘I hate this place. It is poisonous. To everyone that has got in touch on here over the years to say you enjoyed one of my gigs or shows, thank you so much, I’m sorry I didn’t get back to all of you.’
Walsh continued: ‘Now. To everyone who has abused me on here, even the ones that didn’t @ me, from the bottom of my heart and all the energy I can will, f*** you. Really f*** you.
‘I won’t miss this place. What even is it? In all my life, I don’t think I’ve actually heard anyone talk about the things people talk about on here in real life. Chill out and have a biscuit.’
Fans responded congratulating Seann on leaving the app and wishing him well, as well as praising shows of his that they had seen.
Walsh was mainly known for his comedy tours and his appearances on panel shows when he was cast on Strictly in 2018, getting paired with cast favourite Katya Jones.
However, the proverbial hit the fan when the pair were pictured kissing passionately after a visit to the pub – despite Seann being in a long-term relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries and Katya being married to fellow Strictly professional Neil Jones.
Rebecca swiftly dumped Seann – with Katya later splitting from Neil – and the comic later apologised for his actions.
However, he has since said he did not deserve the severe backlash.
Speaking to Richard Herring, Seann said: ‘No one wants to hear me stick up for myself but I wish I’d stuck up for myself at the time. It’s with a tough year mentally, I lost a lot personally and job-wise.
‘I think I did go through – I don’t mind saying it wasn’t fair, it wasn’t right – but I didn’t deserve it. I still wake up some days and it feels like it happened yesterday and it’s traumatic. I’m not looking for sympathy, these are the facts.’
