Scream 5 is to begin shooting next month, according to reports.

The latest installment in the hit horror franchise will reunite Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette as Sidney, Gale and Dewey.

Although expected to drop in 2022, Variety reports that the film is to enter production any day now at a studio in North Carolina.

The publication also shared that rising star Sonia Ammar has joined the cast.

Jack Quaid, Jenna Ortega and Dylan Minnette will also feature.

Campbell – who plays the franchise’s long-suffering heroine – teased the movie earlier this month by sharing a cryptic video of the Ghostface mask on Instagram.

The cast is also rumoured to include Lose You To Love Me singer Selena Gomez.

The film, due in 2022, will be helmed by Ready or Not director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Wes Craven, who died in 2015, directed the first four Scream films.

The series has grossed grossed over $608 million (£470 million) worldwide so far.

Discussing the offer of joining Scream 5 earlier this year, Neve told Hollywood Reporter: ‘I definitely had a period where I was thinking it would just be too odd to do a movie without Wes, and I wasn’t certain that I would want to do that.

‘But, I think enough time has passed. I got this really, really respectful letter from the directors [Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett] of the new one.

‘They wrote a letter honouring Wes in such a beautiful way, and they expressed that the reason they make horror movies is because of Wes and the Scream films.’
