Scooter Braun has opened up about his regret over his headline-making feud with Taylor Swift.

Love Story hitmaker Taylor famously clashed with the music manager and her former label, Big Machine Records in 2019 after Scooter bought her old masters catalogue for a reported $330 million (£236million).

A year later, Justin Bieber’s manager then sold the rights to an investment fund in a deal that is believed to be north of $300million.

After the deal was announced, I Knew You Were Trouble singer Taylor came forward to claim that the deal – much like the first acquisition – had happened without her knowledge.

Speaking to Variety about how he felt about the ongoing conflict between the pair, Scooter stated: ‘I regret and it makes me sad that Taylor had that reaction to the deal.

‘All of what happened has been very confusing and not based on anything factual.’

He continued: ‘I don’t know what story she was told. I asked for her to sit down with me several times, but she refused. I offered to sell her the catalog back and went under NDA, but her team refused.

‘It all seems very unfortunate. Open communication is important and can lead to understanding.’

The music mogul insisted the pair’s previous interactions over the years were ‘really friendly and kind’ as he continued: ‘I find her to be an incredibly talented artist and wish her nothing but the best.’

Scooter explained that he was upset to find himself labeled as a bully amid the feud as he stated: ‘The thing that struck me the worst is the word “bully.” I’m firmly against anyone ever being bullied.

‘I always try to lead with appreciation and understanding. The one thing I’m proudest of in that moment was that my artists and team stood by me.’

‘They know my character and my truth. That meant a lot to me. In the long run, I’m happy for my life’s work to be the legacy I leave behind,’ he stated.

The manager, who also looks after the likes of Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato, added that he understands the issue has created ‘misconceptions’ about his character that he can’t change.

Taylor Swift has since had the last laugh by re-recording new version’s of her first six albums which are slowly being released on streaming platforms (Picture: Taylor Swift)

He claimed: ‘I think when you’re successful, you are misunderstood. Success is a game of chess, and sometimes on that chessboard, people don’t see what you’re doing until four or five moves in.

‘There’s always going to be misconceptions because people want to see things the way they want to see them. But it would be really nice if we all give each other a little bit of grace.’

The masters included almost every piece of music Taylor recorded and released over an 11-year period from 2006 to 2017, including her albums Red and 1989.

The pop superstar has seen begun releasing re-recorded versions of the music for fans to enjoy instead.
