Scooter Braun has broken his silence after Taylor Swift shocked fans with a statement, claiming he and Scott Borchetta had blocked her from playing her own songs.

Not directly mentioning Taylor or the drama, Scooter wrote on Twitter about the death of a friend.

‘Today was powerful. Puts it all in perspective. Grateful to this @SB_Projects family. Truly a family. Thank you. RIP Alex. #f***cancer,’ he said.

The responses have been mixed, with many sending their condolences, while some Taylor fans have filled the replies with rat emojis.

The Lover hitmaker had the internet shocked when she released a statement, claiming that she had been blocked from playing her own music, and there was a ‘question mark’ over her AMAs performance.

She pleaded with fans for their help in her statement, writing: ‘Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun have now said that I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year.’

She then claimed that Scott – founder of her former label, Big Machine – would only allow her to use her old music if she stopped plans to re-record her original music.

Stars including Lily Allen, Gigi Hadid and Halsey came out in their droves to support the singer – although Shawn Mendes was dragged for staying silent on the matter.

Selena Gomez also wrote a lengthy statement, fuming about Scooter’s ‘manipulation’ and calling her friend ‘one of the best songwriters of our time’.

However, Big Machine Records later denied Taylor’s claims in a statement, telling her that her ‘narrative does not exist’.

Meanwhile, Taylor’s publicist Tree Paine was quick to act on Friday afternoon and released her response to the company’s statement in which she claimed they BMR used clever wording to try and hide their actions as seen in a private email.

Let’s hope they all work it out soon.
