Scarlett Moffatt insists she wasn’t sacked and pushed for Stacey Solomon to replace her on Celebability

SCARLETT Moffatt insists she wasn’t sacked and pushed for Stacey Solomon to replace her on Celebability as team captain.

Fans were shocked to hear Scarlett would no longer be heading up a team on Iain Stirling’s ITV2 show.

But Scarlett says she wasn’t pushed from the role – because she wanted to do pantomime instead.

The presenter told The Sun Online: “I was going to do the show but then I wanted to do panto really bad. I love panto.

“And that’s when they were filming celebability so when I was chatting to them they mentioned Stacey, and I was like ‘OMG Stacey is the best fit for this role’ because she genuinely cares for people and the whole role is making sure people win.

“So I’m really excited about it. So I’ll be watching and rooting for Iain and Stacey. I’m not precious over roles [laughs].”

She starred as the fairy godmother in Sunderland Empire’s production of Cinderella in December.

But Scarlett’s recommendation of Stacey Solomon has gone down a treat with Love Island narrator Iain, who said: “She is just brilliant. She is an absolute professional, an absolute charmer and a joy to work with.

“It’s been a real honour actually. TV royalty!”

This isn’t the only role Scarlett has been replaced in as actress Emily Atack took over her presenting duties on I’m A Celeb Extra Camp last year.

However, Scarlett insisted it was her decision not to go back to Australia as she wanted to spend more time with her family over Christmas.

It was also revealed that she won’t be returning to Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

The disappointing news came despite Scarlett co-presenting the 2018 series finale with Declan Donnelly after Ant McPartlin’s drink-driving car crash.
