DO believe I can hear wedding bells.

If you were one of those who said “I do”, it might be starting to look like an expensive year ahead.

Maybe I’ll be able to save you some dosh with these ideas . . .

UNDER THE HAMMER: If you can get your head around the colour scheme and theme now, you can start scouring auction sites. Now is the perfect time to pick up bargains, as people declutter. Search specifically for “wedding centrepiece deals” on eBay and you’ll find lots of pre-owned bundles. For example, I found someone selling ten vases for £10.

TIME IS MONEY: Peak season is May to October, so marrying between November and February can save you hundreds on your venue. For example, Surrey’s Ramster Hall is offering 20 per cent off from January to March 2020. You’ll get an even better deal by booking midweek — February half term is a good bet if you’re inviting kids too. Accommodation also tends to be cheaper in winter.

ACCESSORISE ALL AREAS: Finding your dream wedding dress in the New Year sales might be a tall order. More realistically, you might want to think about buying some accessories. Debenhams has up to half-price across lots of diamante wedding hair clips, including the Alan Hannah freshwater pearl-and-crystal headband, down from £50 to £15.

CORKING PRICES: Buy your wedding fizz now to make a big saving. Aldi’s Castellore prosecco and Lidl’s Allini prosecco are both just £3.99 — a pound cheaper than usual. If you buy 25 bottles, that’s £25 saved.

DECK THE WALLS: If you’re looking ahead to a festive winter wedding, take full advantage of the Christmas decoration sales in January. Think twinkling lights, candles and wintry table runners. for example, M&S’s light-up jewel tree is now £12.37, down from £49.50, saving you £37.13.
