A SAVVY mum got her step-daughter’s coat to look brand new by spraying mould remover on it and washing it with a dishwasher tablet.
The mum shared snaps of a filthy pink coat, which was destined to be a ‘playing out’ jacket after repeated attempts to wash it had failed.
In a last ditch attempt to save it from the bin she decided to try something a little stronger to get the caked-on grime off, and was amazed by the results.
After getting the coat to look brand new, she uploaded before-and-after snaps to Facebook group Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It, and shared her “parenting hack”.
The cleaning fan wrote: “My partner’s daughter’s mum had washed the coat a few times with no luck…
“So other than it being a playing out coat I thought I had nothing to lose and would try it out my way.
“If it didn’t work we was going to get a new coat today for school tomorrow.”
But she managed to avoid forking out on a new jacket, by using a combination of household cleaning products.
She added: “So then I decided to spray the whole coat with mould and mildew remover put a dishwasher tablet in the washing machine and put it on a 90° wash.
“The coat now looks brand-new and I’ve brushed the fur on the hood when it came out saved us a small fortune for a new coat.”
Her incredible tip has racked up nearly 900 likes, as fellow parents praised the transformation.
One said: “That is seriously impressive!”
Another mum: “I could have done with this advice years ago with 3 very adventurous boys. It was hot wash n shrink then.”
A third said: “Brilliant it’s turned out beautiful.”
Another person raved: “Definitely worth trying anything as a last resort well done.”
