Sarah Millican: Comedian hits back at fan as she ‘corrects’ them on latest career move

Sarah Millican, 44, revealed the news about her new Radio 4 panel show, Elephant in the Room, on Twitter earlier this month.

She told a fan about the news after they said they want to see more female hosted panel shows.

“Why don’t you listen to Elephant in the Room, my radio 4 panel show with female host and 3 female guests and 1 male guest,” the comedian replied.

In response to her message, another one of her two million Twitter followers quizzed her on why she doesn’t have a TV show.

They wrote: “I guess it takes selling out arenas for execs to trust a woman to host a panel show… and even then, it’s on radio.”

Sarah hit back to “correct” the fan, stating she picks what platform her show’s on.

She wrote: “Correction: I choose to do theatres not arenas and also, I want my show to be on the radio not the telly. Thanks.”

The fan replied: “I didn’t mean it as an insult, I’m sorry if it came across that way.

“I’m just disappointed with the lack of female representation on television, and the double standards for men and women. I’m really enjoying Elephant in the Room, and love radio shows.”

Meanwhile, Sarah has been trying out a new skill recently, as she revealed she has more time to cook.

The star uploaded a photo of a pasta dish to her Twitter account and tagged chef, Jamie Oliver, in the message, as she thanked him for teaching her how to cook it.

Sarah wrote: “Hey @jamieoliver, I eventually had time to make the delicious Tuscan Sausage and Tomato pasta dish you taught me on your TV show.

“It’s amazing! Plus I finally used this fancy knife for something other than cutting a Viennetta (pic 2). Hope you’re proud.”

Jamie responded: “Looks delicious, Sarah!!! Big love to you.”

“Big love right back,” Sarah replied. “Now to start working through other recipes. So great to have time to cook. X.”

Sarah, who was born and brought up in South Shields, teased her guest appearance on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown tonight on her Twitter account.

She uploaded a snap of herself sitting beside fellow comedian, Alan Carr, where they were both seen laughing away.

“I’m on 8/10 Cats Does Countdown with @AlanCarr on Channel 4 this Friday at 9pm,” Sarah wrote.

Also on the show, Sean Lock will be joined by Rob Beckett on the opposite team, with Jimmy Carr hosting and Rachel Riley taking on her usual Countdown role.

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown airs tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
