AVOTRE label boss Santé has been a key figure across the global house and techno scene for the past decade.
Hailing from Berlin and being immersed in the incredible scene there led to him working with Tiefschwarz as an engineer, overseeing projects for their famed Souvenir label. This experience was one of the major milestones in his career. He has since flourished even more.
During his time at Souvinir, he worked on many of Tiefschwarz’s releases including remixes for Richie Hawtin and Grace Jones. From there he was able to spread his wings and the years that followed saw him release music on a diverse range of labels including Sven Väth’s Cocoon and the behemoth of house music, Defected.
Alongside his own productions, Santé has also engineered tracks for many other artists, as well as composing soundtracks for film, and TV jingles for advertisements – most recently scoring five pieces of music, and the trailer for art-based documentary ‘Finding The Beauty’.
Shot over a period of 10 years, the stunning film was produced by StudioBREDE and hosted its world premiere at The 52nd Hof International Film Festival in October 2018. Setting the tone and provoking an emotional response with sound is integral to this discipline and feeds back into his productions, giving him an dynamic and unique perspective on making music.
When you ask him to describe his musical style, he says he ‘doesn’t really know how’, which goes some way to explaining his widespread appeal.
Santé launched AVOTRE’s ‘Heat’ series a few years back as a way to shine a light on emerging talent in various countries and last month he released the next instalment, ‘Argentinian Heat’ which you can listen to HERE.
We caught up with Santé and asked him to talk us through a selection of his current favourite tracks which you can listen to and read about below.
