Sanaa Lathan to voice Catwoman in DC Universe’s Harley Quinn series

While audiences are anxiously waiting for the next film appearance of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey next year, DC Universe it still hard at work on the upcoming animated series following the character. BlackFilm has revealed that Shots Fired‘s Sanaa Lathan has joined the voice cast of the series, voicing Selina Kyle aka Catwoman.

At the American Black Film Festival, Lathan was on a discussion panel with director Malcolm D. Lee (Night School), with whom she’s worked multiple times, where she revealed she would be donning the animated ears of the cat burglar for the DC Universe series.

The titular crazy beloved villain will be voiced by Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco. The voice cast also includes Lake Bell (In a World…, Wet Hot American Summerseries, Childrens Hospital), Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Ron Funches (Powerless), JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Natalie Morales (Bojack Horseman), Jim Rash (Mike Tyson Mysteries), Diedrich Bader (Veep), Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep), and Chris Meloni (Happy!, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).

The series will follow Harley Quinn‘s adventures after her break with the Joker. The story will focus on Harley along with Poison Ivy and other DC castoffs as they try to help each other in order to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.

Cuoco is also an executive producer on the series through her Yes, Norman Productions alongside Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey. The series will stream on the DC Universe subscription service is currently slated to premiere in October.
