Samsung set to unveil the world's first bezel-free TV next week at CES in Las Vegas

Samsung is set to unveil the world’s first ever bezel-less TV next week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas

  • Samsung may unveil the world’s first-ever bezel-less TV next week
  • The TV may go into production as soon as February 2020, reports say
  • The company achieved the design by melding the display to the body

Samsung may be gearing up to release the world’s first ever frame-less TV with a screen that takes up the set’s entire front side.

According to a report from SamMobile, the TV set will have no outer bezel, meaning the screen will blend seamlessly against its backdrop.

The TV will reportedly only be available for models that are 65-inches or larger and may go into production as soon as February.

Samsung achieved the feat by physically welding the display and the TV’s body together according to SamMobile. According to a developer cited by SamMobile, the result is the world’s first-ever truly bezel-less TV.

‘Unlike other so-called ‘zero-bezel’ products that actually still had bezels, this product really doesn’t have a bezel,’ the anonymous developer told SamMobile. ‘Samsung has become the first in the world to realize such an extreme design.’

Ahead of the expected unveiling, German site 4KFilme released what they claim are the first official pictures of the TV, which show the set is as bezel-less as Samsung suggests.

Though Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed that it would release the TV, the recent news corroborates prior reports of Samsung trademarking the name ‘Zero Bezel’ earlier this year.

Samsung also released a fairly vague sounding teaser on Twitter this Tuesday that may be the precursor to its official announcement.

‘Tune in on January 6 @ 6:30PM PT/9:30PM ET to watch the Samsung #CES2020 keynote live #AgeofExperience #SamsungCES2020,’ reads the tweet.

Details on the new device have yet to be reported, however. That includes price or when and where it will be available.

Throughout the past several years, Samsung has carved out a niche in creating new and form-breaking TV’s.

This year it pushed the boundaries with a set called the ‘Sero.’

The TV switches between horizontal and vertical modes by just pressing a button, and aims to capitalize on the growing number of users engaging in more dedicated and long term viewing on their mobile devices

Specifcally, Samsung has said it hopes Sero will court millennial audiences who are used to watching videos vertically on their mobile devices.
