Samir Nasri injured during half-time warm-up that scuppered West Ham comeback

MANUEL PELLEGRINI admitted his West Ham reshuffle against Chelsea was scuppered by an injury to Samir Nasri during the half-time warm up.

Pellegrini was ready to turn to the French winger to boost his side’s chances of getting back into this tie.

Pellegrini said: “Samir Nasri was going to start in the second half, but in the warm-up he felt a muscle injury in his calf and wasn’t confident to play. We’ll see tomorrow.”
Pellegrini saw his side undone by two wonder-goals by Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

He added: “It was a beautiful goal of Hazard. He went past four defenders, and that reflects the lack of aggression in the way we played that first 45 minutes.

“This team can be beaten by Chelsea, but if we do that by playing that complete game as we did in the second half we cannot complain.

“We spoke about a lot of things at half-time, but I said only the same thing: ‘When you want, you can.’

“You need the desire to demonstrate the way you can play, which team you are.

“We did that in the second half, but you cannot give 45 minutes to Chelsea.”
