Sam Fischer explains how he ended up singing with Demi Lovato on emotional duet

Sam Fischer and Demi Lovato are creating musical waves with their emotional duet – but it seems the rousing track was created as a result of a happy accident.

Aussie hitmaker Sam – who unleashed hit single This City last year – has matched his vocals with those of pop powerhouse Demi on a new song called What Other People Say.

The 29-year-old star explained that he managed to wangle a music studio date with 28-year-old Demi after another musician dropped out on him.

The track includes lyrics about regrets over excessive lifestyles and becoming lost in the world of Los Angeles – lines that Sam says Demi connected with.

He told The Sun: “The writing session was actually supposed to be for another artist, but that artist didn’t turn up.

“Demi heard it and immediately connected with the lyrics.

“I felt like this was something that she really wanted to say and share from her own personal perspective.

“But she hadn’t found the words to do that yet. So it’s kind of nuts.”

Demi has been an open book about her past struggles.

The Skyscraper singer has suffered an overdose and a relapse in the past as she has struggled to put demons relating to drugs behind her.

While she has also spoken out about past struggles with eating disorders and urged women around the world to learn to love the body they have.

Demi herself has gushed over her collaboration with Sam.

Taking to social media to highlight the release of the single, she wrote: “these lyrics are so special to my heart.”
