Sally Nugent: BBC Breakfast star speaks out after Manchester Utd's Harry Gregg dies age 87

He replied: “For a long time, he kind of buried it and didn’t talk about it and it was only in later life, before the 50th anniversary of the crash, in 2008.

“I spoke to him then and he found it difficult to go over those days.”

He added: “It was troubling for him and he didn’t go back to Old Trafford after that until 2018, but I think he found it difficult to accept that he was a person who was regarded as a hero.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
