Salah hits back at ‘bad season’ claims and insists he only wants Prem glory with Liverpool

LIVERPOOL ace Mohamed Salah has hit back at critics claiming he is having a “bad season”.

The Liverpool hero failed to score against Tottenham on Sunday, but his header caused Toby Alderweireld to sent the ball into his own net, sealing the Reds’ 2-1 win at Anfield.

Salah, 26, bagged an incredible 52 goals in all competitions last season, firing the Liverpool up to the Champions League final.

But the Egyptian winger’s tally in the current campaign is far less impressive as he has found the net only 20 times.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a swipe at him earlier this year, admitting he was way off the pace in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

In addition, the emergence of Sadio Mane, 26, means Salah often has his limelight stolen by the Senegal ace – who netted twice against Bayern Munich to dump them out of the Champions League.

But in fact, Mane has scored the same number of goals as Salah in the current campaign.

What’s more, Salah trails the Premier League’s top scorer Sergio Aguero just by two goals – as does the Senegalese.

The Egyptian shrugs criticism off, insisting he is not interested in putting up crazy numbers to boost his ego, but just wants to help the Reds win the Premier League crown.

But he points out that players with similar stats to him are not getting stick as he does.

Salah said: “We got the three points, that’s the most important thing. I don’t care about the goal.

“There are some players with the same number of goals as me and they are having the best season of my life, and I’m supposed to be having a bad season.

“I want to win the Premier League, that’s the most important thing for me.

“The atmosphere was crazy and the fans help us a lot.

“They are desperate to win the league and we will do everything to make that happen.”
