Ryan Reynolds has celebrated X-Men Day with a picture of Stan Lee – and our hearts are well and truly warmed.

The 42-year-old took to Instagram where he shared a group snap of everyone involved in the movies – including the late legend Stan.

In the picture, the team of A-listers beamed into the camera, with the likes of Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence and Channing Tatum all posing for the snap.

Writing in the caption, the Deadpool star wished his followers a ‘happy #XMenDay.’

Later on in the day, the star took to his Twitter account where he poked fun at the first time he played the merc with the mouth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Sharing a series of snaps from the franchise, he quipped: ‘Happy #XMenDay. Since the moment I first put on the suit, it’s been the greatest gig of my life.’

The joker added: ‘Even “Practice Deadpool” in 2009. #NotReallyAnXMan #XPerson.’

And he wasn’t the only one to celebrate 20 years since the first movie in the franchise dropped.

Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine in the hit, also took to his social media account with a promo picture of himself all done up as the superhero.

Writing underneath the snap, he confessed to his 13.6million followers: ‘Role of a lifetime. #XMenDay.’

The 50-year-old has recently spoken out about Stan Lee’s death, after the writer sadly passed away aged 95.

While on the The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Hugh remembered the mastermind behind Marvel who died at the end of last year.

He said: ‘Let me just say to the family and to the legions of fans that I remember Stan as a true gentleman who had this glint in his eye.

‘He’s a creative genius. He thought outside the box. He created a whole universe that changed the lives of many people, mine included.’

The star continued: ‘If you ever want to get a real understanding of where you’re at in the world … I was on a red carpet [at Comic-Con], and I was the only one on there, and no one was taking my photo because at the other end was Stan Lee.’

He laughed: ‘There were about 300 photographers and interviewers all on Stan.’
