Russell Kane has an interesting view of his marriage to wife Lindsey Cole, joking that they’re in a #MeToo relationship.

The 44-year-old comedian recalls how he met Lindsey when she sat in the front row of his gig in Cheshire seven years ago.

According to Russell, the fact Lindsey was sitting next to her parents didn’t dissuade him from being ‘horrible’ and ‘vile’ to her in a bid to get her attention.

But he advises other stand-up comedians not to try and woo audience members they’re attracted to as there’s a ‘power indifference’.

In an interview with heat! magazine, Russell said: ‘This shows how much the climate has changed, because I can tell you know, if I was a single stand-up comedian, I would not date anyone who came to a show.

‘I don’t care what anyone says, but I don’t think any man or woman should date anyone in their audience, no matter how old they are, because there’s an incorrect power difference. How can I ever say there wasn’t?’

He then joked: ‘So, technically, I’m in a #MeToo marriage.’

Russell went on to reveal how he ‘saw a pretty girl in the front row with her mum and dad’ and decided to ‘be horrible to her in the way boys are when they really like someone’.

According to Russell, he was ‘really vile to her’.

The British comedian jokingly turned the audience against Lindsey by claiming she was wearing real fur when it was actually faux.

Lindsey clearly made a big impact on the comic as he was still thinking about her weeks later, so tweeted ‘Minky’ in the hopes of getting her attention.

It worked as Lindsey’s friends picked up on it and before Russell knew it, she was asking for his phone number because she had no interest in sliding in his DMs.

Despite their so-called #MeToo marriage, the couple are still going strong and are parents to four-year-old daughter Mina.
