Pep Guardiola has revealed that Ruben Dias is an early doubt for Manchester City’s clash with Tottenham this Saturday as he is suffering from a ‘fever’.

The 23-year-old has been a key figure in City’s defence this season but he was absent for the 3-1 victory over Swansea City in the FA Cup on Wednesday evening.

Rodri was also forced off during the win against the Championship club, while the Premier League leaders were also missing Fernandinho due to a thigh injury.

After the match, Guardiola confirmed Dias is sidelined with ‘stomach problems’ and has been unable to train.

Meanwhile, Rodri’s injury will be assessed before the match against Spurs.

‘I didn’t speak with Rodri but the doctor didn’t tell me anything so hopefully he’ll be fit. We will see in the next hours,’ said Guardiola.

‘He’s playing really well. His presence, his personality. He is playing really well, like the last few weeks. He has [played well] all season, I would say.

‘Ruben had a fever and still has a problem with his stomach.

‘That’s why he was not able to train yesterday and today we travelled.

‘Fernandinho had some niggles in the quad and he was not able to play.’
