Royal baby Archie is ‘most peaceful and placid child’ but new parents Prince Harry and Meghan ‘are exhausted’

ROYAL baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor is the “most peaceful and placid child” – but parents Harry and Meghan are exhausted, an insider has revealed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are feeling “rather tired” after the birth of their son in the early hours of Monday morning, a source claimed.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, an unnamed pal close to the royal couple told of little Archie’s docile nature – but said his parents are still adjusting to life as new parents.

And the Duke and Duchess are happy to have shown him off to an eager public after a photo-call at Windsor Castle – where dozing Archie was cradled by his doting mum and dad.

The source said: “This was a very special moment for the couple—one they won’t forget.

“The baby is the most peaceful, placid child you’ll ever meet.

“They are so proud but probably quite relieved to have gotten the photos out the way … They’re rather tired!”

Despite a lack of sleep, Prince Harry jumped straight back into his duties as he travelled to The Netherlands yesterday to kick off the Invictus Games.

Harry told former soldier Dennis van der Stroom, 31, that little Archie was “so far very quiet”.

A royal source said: “It’s an incredible moment.

“With Doria also there it marks a historic new chapter for the Royal Family.”

The choice of Archie’s name means the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have formally chosen not to use a title for their newborn.

As the first-born son of a duke, Archie could have become Earl of Dumbarton — one of Harry’s subsidiary titles.

Or he could have been Lord Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

But instead he will simply be Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

A source said: “They have chosen not to use a courtesy title.”

Archie, short for Archibald, is a name of German origin and means “bold or brave”.

Harrison is of English origin — and means “son of Harry”.

The hyphenated surname Mountbatten-Windsor is in keeping with a royal tradition established by the Queen to differentiate her direct descendants from the rest of the House of Windsor.

Speaking for only three minutes from inside St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle, a giggling Meghan said: “It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing.

“He’s just been the dream so it’s been a special couple of days.

“I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.

“He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm.”
