Liverpool secured a crucial 3-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday at Anfield, a win which has convinced Roy Keane they will win the Premier League title.

Goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane gave the Reds an all-important three points over the defending champions on Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp’s side move onto 34 points from just 12 games, taking an enormous eight point lead over their nearest rivals, Leicester City, and nine clear of Pep Guardiola’s team.

There is an awful long way to go before any silverware is handed out this season, but Keane is now of the belief that Liverpool have one hand on the trophy.

‘I’m not a betting man, but yeah I think it’s done,’ the Manchester United legend told Sky Sports when asked if the title race was over.

The Irishman also made the admission that no United team that he played in ‘ever chased down a side as good as Liverpool down.’

Liverpool will not be getting too carried away just yet, as they were in an even better position last season and are still without a Premier League title to their name.

The Reds held a 10 point lead over City in December last year after winning 17 and drawing three of their opening 20 league matches.

However, four more draws and just one defeat – to City – were enough to see them finish second, one point behind the champions.

Klopp’s side are now odds-on favourites to win the Premier League title for the first time, with the Reds not winning the league title since the 1989/90 season, when it was still known as the First Division.
