Romelu Lukaku names Kevin De Bruyne as best midfielder he has played with


Romelu Lukaku has named Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is the best midfielder he has played with during his career.

The Inter Milan striker was asked to name best midfielder he has played alongside while answering a series of questions on his Instagram story .

And although the former Manchester United man has also played with the likes of Paul Pogba during his two-year spell at Old Trafford, Lukaku opted for his Belgium international team-mate.

In response to the question, the 26-year-old replied: “Kevin de Bruyne. Got eyes in his back for real.”

Lukaku was known to have had a close friendship with Pogba when he joined the Red Devils in 2017, but reports have suggested that the pair grew apart before the forward’s switch to Italy.

Despite those suggestions, the 26-year-old recently revealed that the Frenchman was the first person he told about his decision to leave before his £74million move to Inter during the summer.

“I told him I was done,” Lukaku said in an interview with The New York Times , while also voicing his belief that he and Pogba were “blamed for Manchester United’s fall”.

Lukaku scored 42 goals in just 96 appearances during his time at United but was subjected to regular criticism under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“It was always, ‘Yes, but …’ right from the start,” he added in the same interview. “I scored against Real Madrid in the European Super Cup but missed a chance. It was: ‘But he missed that one.’

Lukaku has impressed during his first season in Italy, scoring 17 goals in just 24 Serie A games to help Antonio Conte’s side to third in the table.
