Roman Reigns reaction to first match since cancer battle loved by fans

Roman Reigns made his emotional return from his cancer battle at WWE Fastlane.

The superstar helped The Shield defeat Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre in their final match together to mark his eagerly-anticipated return.

Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins shared a poignant moment together in the ring at the end of what has been a remarkable journey as a trio.

But it was the return of Reigns, in his first official match since being diagnosed with leukemia for a second time last October, which made the occasion even more special.

Reigns, who announced his cancer is in remission last month after a brave battle, looked like he’d barely been away in a fiercely competitive encounter.

He was involved in some huge triple powerbombs, made iconic by The Shield, on their opponents and was eventually the man to pin Corbin for victory after a Superman Punch.

And fans noticed the beaming smile on the face of a clearly emotional Roman Reigns throughout the match after his remarkable battle to get back into the ring.

One fan said “that smile on Roman’s face made ALL of that worth it”, whilst many spoke of how much they loved seeing his happiness as he reacted to being back.

Another said his smile “said it all”, with another fan stating “the happiness on Roman Reigns goes to show it means everything to him after beating his cancer”.

The 33-year-old was hailed as an “inspirational performer” after a hugely successful in-ring return which has fans now predicting he may be on course for a singles match with Corbin at Wrestlemania 35 in four weeks’ time.
