Roma offer contract to Chelsea star Pedro as they eye free transfer

Chelsea winger Pedro is in the sights of Roma with his contract expiring this summer.

The 32-year-old has confirmed that after five years at the club where he lifted the title, the FA Cup and the Europa League, he is set to leave as a free agent.

Over the past season he has appeared just nine times in the Premier League under Frank Lampard.

Roma, who have been able to speak to him since January, have a £2.7m a year contract – plus bonuses – on the table in a bid to tempt him to the Eternal City.

But Pedro, who lifted the World Cup and the European Champion during his 65-cap spell with Spain, also has strong interest from the MLS.

Chelsea look set to lose several of their older stars this summer as they reach the end of their contracts.

Brazilian forward Willian is heading out the exit door at Stamford Bridge after failing to agree fresh terms on an extension.

The 31-year-old requested a three-year deal but Chelsea will only to stretch to two years.

Barcelona have turned down the opportunity to sign Willian for the same reason, as they feel his demands are too high and they would be better served signing someone younger.

Tottenham and PSG are both interested in taking the player on.

Olivier Giroud could also be on his way out of the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Frenchman was close to leaving in January but Chelsea boss Frank Lampard could not afford to let him go.

Inter Milan and Tottenham were among the interested parties then, and Giroud was disappointed to not seal a move.

But the Blues have now opened up fresh talks with the 33-year-old over staying at Stamford Bridge, in a u-turn which would see them break club policy of retaining players well into their 30s.
