ROLLING Stones legend Ronnie Wood has slammed drug rehabilitation clinics as a “rip-off”.
Ronnie, 72, who did several stints in rehab, said many are only interested in money and may want addicts to slip up.
The guitarist finally got clean of drugs and booze in 2009 by going to Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
He said of rehabilitation clinics: “You sometimes wonder if they want you to go out and drink again. It’s big money for them.
“Do they want you to fall off the wagon and come back and pay them a huge amount?”
Dad-of-six Ronnie went into rehab for the final time in 2008 after leaving second wife Jo, who filed for a divorce — granted in 2009.
Asked if he thought rehab was a rip-off he told Mojo mag: “Oh yeah. They help people but they can also help people . . . commit suicide.
“So I left rehab and did it for myself. I felt I knew what to do — fellowship.
“I did 90 meetings in 90 days and I did the same again. Didn’t need the rehab place. I did it through the meetings.”
