Rod Stewart is still breaking records at the age of 74 after being named the oldest man to top the UK album chart.

The singer may have been working in the music industry for over 50 years, but Rod showed that he had no intention by releasing his 32nd (yep, 32nd) studio album You’re In My Heart in November.

Slowly but steadily climbing the charts, the album, which sees the performer’s biggest hits reimagined with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, found itself taking the top spot this week, beating out Robbie Williams’ Christmas album and the new record from rock royalty The Who.

Gaining a 10th number one had special significance for Rod, as he was named the oldest male solo artist to top the British album chart.

Not bad, eh?

The record was previously held by Paul Simon, who was a mere three months younger than Rod when he received the title.

Celebrating his win on Friday, the singer congratulated the day’s other victor: Boris Johnson.

Unsurprisingly this infuriated some fans, as Rod tweeted: ’Well done Robbie, well done Boris, no hard feelings Pete Townshend!’

Over the past few years, Rod has been through quite the emotional rollercoaster, recently opening up about his 2016 prostate cancer diagnosis.

He was diagnosed during a routine check-up in 2016, but he fought the disease and has been in remission since July.

The 74-year-old received the bad news with his wife Penny Lancaster by his side and he thanked her for her love and support during the difficult time.

Speaking on Loose Women, Rod said: ‘We were absolutely shattered, but I had this marvelous specimen of a woman by my side to get me through it.

‘I worked for two years knowing it was there. You can’t dwell on it. Be confident and let God take care of the rest.’
