Rockstar rolls out homeworking across its international offices and studios


“We are confident we have a robust system in place for our teams to continue their work with a minimum of disruption.”

Rockstar is the latest video games company to mandate home working as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

“In the interest of reducing the possible impact of COVID-19, Rockstar Games has implemented work from home policies across our international offices and studios,” the company said by way of a statement shared across its social media channels earlier today.

“After significant research and consultation with our teams around the world, we began rolling out remote work solutions worldwide across the past week, and we are confident we have a robust system in place for our teams to continue their work with a minimum of disruption.”

Rockstar insisted the change would not affect the operation of any of its titles and says “all support teams” will remain available for players, but that “the health and safety of our employees and their families remains our top priority”.

The coronavirus pandemic has sent shockwaves through the video game industry. It’s caused the cancellation of the Game Developers Conference, E3 and a raft of publisher events that were due to take place over the next few months. EA, which has thousands of staff globally across a number of offices and studios, said it is “strongly recommending” all its employees in North America, Europe and Australia work from home until 1st April “to help limit potential exposure to coronavirus and minimise the social spread of the illness”.
