Robin Williams’ son Zak has welcomed his first child, naming the young boy after his late father.
Zak, the oldest son of the comedic actor who died in 2014, and his fiancee Olivia June welcomed the young boy and have named him McLaurin Clement Williams.
McLaurin was Robin’s middle name, and it is thought the couple will call him Mickey for short.
The newborn arrived on 22 May and weighed 8lbs, the happy parents told People magazine.
Olivia also took to Instagram to share a picture of the adorable baby, writing: ‘Introducing you to my little family!
‘My fiance, Zak, and I were so happy to welcome baby McLaurin to the world on May 22nd.
‘We are beyond thrilled he chose us to be his parents, and obviously think he’s the best, smartest, and cutest baby ever!!’
Robin died by suicide in 2014 after suffering from depression and mental health problems.
He was reportedly discovered around midday and the police were called by his devastated wife, who issued a statement at the time asking fans to remember the ‘joy and laughter he gave to millions.’
‘This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings,’ she began.
‘I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief.’
An autopsy revealed that he had been suffering from Lewy body dementia (LBD) – which had been falsely diagnosed as Parkinsons Disease – and it was ‘devastating to him’ as it forced him to forget script lines.
In 2018’s HBO documentary Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind, Zak revealed his father ‘didn’t always feel he was succeeding’.
‘But he was the most successful person I know.’
