Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda has marked what would have been the late movie star’s birthday by donating to homeless shelters

The Mrs. Doubtfire actor, who died in 2011, would have turned 69 today.

Taking to Twitter, Zelda said: ‘Today would’ve been Dad’s 69th birthday, so to honor him (& that glorious number), I will be donating $69.69 to as many local homeless shelters as I can.

‘Join me if you like, but regardless, know I am wishing you all at least one hearty, immature belly laugh on Dad today.’

Zelda later offered the update: ‘Welp, got the “suspicious activity” email, so gonna have to slow down on 69s and go talk to a robot for a bit.’

We’re sure her dad would have seen the funny side.

‘Gonna go back to being off socials for awhile (as I do yearly), but thanks for joining me in honoring Dad (and the number 69) today!’

Robin’s biggest movies includes Aladdin, Hook and Patch Adams.

Zelda’s messages coincided with the hashtag ‘Remembering Robin Williams on his birthday’ trending far and wide on Twitter today.

‘Is there any performance he didn’t nail???’ tweeted one fan. ‘His 80s standup shows were SO GOOD omg, and Jumanji, Mrs Doubtfire…’

Said another: ‘The first movie I ever saw in a theatre, unaccompanied by an adult and is STILL my favorite Robin Williams movie: Popeye. When my DVD broke, I bought a new one.’

‘Mrs Doubtfire will always be my favourite movie from childhood,’ a Twitter use penned. ‘And Hook. Both movies I watched over and over and still do! Classics. We miss Robin.’

Sharing a sweet anecdote, a follower commented: ‘I was working in a shop in San Francisco and he comes in and puts on an extra small zip hoody, zips it up with hood over head, goes over and poses frozen in the window as a living mannequin as tourists walk by and do a double take. I met him a few times and he was the nicest guy.’

Robin also acted in many lesser-seen adult movies such as Insomnia, Good Will Hunting, What Dreams May Come and One Hour Photo.

As well as Zelda, he was a dad to Zachary, 37, and Cody 28.
