Robert Pattinson has revealed his new workout regime as he admitted he was fearful of getting injured while filming for The Batman.

The actor, 33, who plays the titular role in the upcoming superhero movie admitted that it was the fear of an on-set injury that motivates him to work out in preparation.

He told Vanity Fair: ‘Really it’s such a physical part that, more than anything, I’m afraid of getting injured, so I kind of need to be consistent with the working out.

‘I have a trainer, who I really love, in London. If someone’s not watching over you, it’s so easy to work out in a really undisciplined way.’

He admitted that he had given himself ‘tennis elbow’ in the past by trying to lift weights that were too heavy, and that he makes sure to keep up with his regime wherever in the world he is.

He explained: ‘I think simple stuff works the best. If you’re in hotel rooms all the time, planking is such an incredible thing to do.

‘It’s really meditative as well. You don’t have to think about. It’s difficult to do it wrong, and the results are pretty incredible.’

Robert also admitted he struggles to get in the zone to exercise (sounds familiar) as he added: ‘I think I have a similar thing to most people where I’ll dread working out.

‘But in general, just before a job, it’s almost always a question of leaning down really quickly. So I’ll wait till the last possible minute, and then do [an] extreme lean-down in two weeks.’

Fans got their first look at Robert in the iconic Batsuit this week, when director Matt Reeves revealed a short video of him in costume from a camera test.

Little is known as of yet about what the plot of the upcoming movie will be, but filming has begun on the new movie at the end of January.

The Batman will be released in cinemas on 25 June, 2021.
