Work has begun on the latest Batman movie, which will star Robert Pattinson in the titular role.

Director Matt Reeves excited fans by sharing a picture of his director’s slate from the first day on set.

The slate bears the film’s title The Batman and reveals that is the first take, so we’re right at the beginning of everything.

The director, 53, shared the image on Twitter from the film’s set in London.

While he clearly took great care not to reveal anything else about where shooting was taking place, the slate appears to be resting on a leather chair. Could he have been in the middle of a scene at Bruce Wayne’s mansion?

The Batman is set for release on 25 June, 2021.

R-Pattz is set to be joined by a star-studded cast including Zoe Kravitz and Colin Farrell, who will be playing Batman villain Penguin.

Meanwhile Zoe is playing Catwoman in the movie.

Matt has previously confirmed Andy Serkis as butler Alfred, with the role previously being played by Sir Michael Caine in the Christopher Nolan directed Dark Knight trilogy.

Peter Sarsgaard is rumoured to be playing the role of Harvey Dent after he was added to the production, with Aaron Eckhart, who played the villain in Nolan’s 2008 flick The Dark Knight, looking forward to how the character will be portrayed.

We’re crossing everything that the film is a success as the Twilight star has threatened to do ‘art house porn’ if it tanks at the box office.

When chatting to The Guardian about the DC project, he joked: ‘I’m already remembering what it’s like to talk about a movie where there’s an expectation.

‘Whenever you say anything, people are like, “Argh! You idiot!” Like, dude, I haven’t even started yet!’

He explained the comment, and added: ‘There is no harsher critic of myself than myself, so I don’t need to worry about anyone else.’

But when the publication asked what he’ll do if fans don’t take to his version of the superhero, the star joked: ‘Porn. But art-house porn.’
