Robbie Williams is releasing his first ever Christmas album and he’s roped in one very unexpected sportsman to help him out.
The former Take That star has had plenty of experience singing about Angels (although maybe not the type that sits on the top of the tree), but is set to go full on festive this holiday season by releasing an album of Christmas hits, as well as singing the theme tune to the Christmas adaptation of The Tiger Who Came To Tea.
Titled The Christmas Present, Robbie is attempting to become the new Michael Buble with a 28 track compilation of festive hits featuring renowned musicians Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams and Jamie Cullum.
Oh yeah, and world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury.
The unlikely duo are set to appear on a track called Bad Sharon, which strays away from your traditional ‘chestnuts roasting on an open fire’ and ‘jingle bells’ and instead puts a raucous twist on the season.
Described by Robbie as ‘a very boozy office party somewhere in the Midlands’, the song features the lyrics: ‘Bad, bad Sharon from the office, nick the champagne, let’s get off.’
Not quite what we were expecting from a Christmas album, but we’ll take it.
The pair first met back in June ahead of Tyson’s Vegas victory against Tom Schwarz, with Robbie heading backstage to pop the Christmas question.
Speaking about the partnership, the dad-of-three recalled: ‘Tyson invited me to his dressing room before the fight and just in that moment I was like, “I’ve seen you sing after bouts,” and I asked him, and he said yes.
‘It made sense for Tyson, in that moment, in my head. And to be fair, he smashed it.’
Could this mean that we might get a Robbie/Tyson Christmas Number 1? We’ll have to wait to find out…
