Robbie Williams has spoken out after his friend’s daughter Caitlin O’ Reilly took her own life.

O’Reilly, 20, died after a weekend away with friends in Manchester earlier this year, according to reports.

Taking to social media, Feel singer Robbie said: ‘Caitlin Nicole O’Reilly was a beautiful 20-year-old girl with her whole life ahead of her. Yet she tragically took her own life.’

Speaking on Twitter, he then added: ‘My friend Pete wants to try to help use this tragic event to raise awareness of the amount of young people suffering with mental health issues.

‘I am honoured to support him in memory of Caitlin.’

Also sharing the message on Instagram, Rob’s post contained words from O’Reilly’s father, who said: ‘Caitlin is no longer with us but I wanted us all to remember her, and so many other beautiful souls across the world.

‘There are so many who have sadly made a choice to end their lives, when action could have prevented it from happening.

‘Together we must do all we can to help those suffering, and to try to limit the devastation caused by suicide.’

He also cited Robbie as an example of someone who ‘sought help, as he recognised he was in a bad place’.

Robbie is known for being open about his own mental health battles.

Pete furthermore added: ‘He is an example to us all that you can turn your life around, and live a happy and full life. So believe in yourself like Rob did, and you can be whoever or whatever you want to be.’

In 2018, Robbie told The Sun: ‘I’ve got a disease that wants to kill me and it’s in my head, so I have to guard against that.

‘Sometimes it overwhelms me and sometimes it’s a tool I need to get on stage. Sometimes I love in bliss and it’s wonderful.

‘But most of the time I’m human – having human experience, trying to deal with the trials and tribulations of what goes on between my ears.’
