Robbie Savage's Premier League predictions including Chelsea vs Man Utd

The most intriguing clash of the Premier League weekend is probably the last one.

Chelsea welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge on Monday night knowing that a victory will see the fourth-place Blues move nine points clear of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, and that is surely a mountain that the Red Devils can’t climb in their pursuit of a return to the Champions League.

Frank Lampard’s Blues will be looking to make the most of their home advantage, but United have picked up some impressive results on the road this season – including two wins at neighbours Manchester City – and so shouldn’t be counted out.

Mirror man Robbie Savage can only see a home victory though, and is predicting Chelsea to win Monday night’s clash 2-1 in what would be a hammer blow to Solskjaer.

Lampard and Solskjaer go head-to-head again

Elsewhere across a slightly shortened weekend as some clubs remain on their winter breaks, Sav thinks that both Tottenham and Arsenal will record victories on Sunday.

Spurs go to Aston Villa searching for a result that would do their own top four hopes the world of good, while Arsenal host a Newcastle side that they start the weekend on the same amount of points as.

Meanwhile it is bottom against top at Carrow Road on Saturday evening, as Liverpool look to go even further ahead at the top of the table.

If Sav is right and Leicester lose at Wolves on Friday night, then the Reds will extend their lead to 25 points with a victory at Norwich, which Sav is expecting them to do with a minimum of fuss.
