Riverdale season 4: Archie's new nemesis revealed – who is Dodger?

Riverdale’s Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) has had his fair share of run-ins in the past few seasons of the Netflix hit.

From chasing down the Black Hood to battling the villainous Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) the star boxer can’t seem to get a break.

However, season four is set to bring the high-schooler a whole new challenge as Juan Riedinger is set to join the cast as Dodger.

According to The CW, Dodger is “a local thug who becomes a nemesis for Archie”.

Showrunners seem to be staying tight-lipped about the new addition as they are yet to reveal any more about the character.

However, Dodger’s description of a “local thug” is sure to bring yet more bad news to the town.

Could this mean a new gang could be joining Riverdale with Dodger as the leader?

Past outings have seen Archie go head-to-head with the Southside Serpants and the Ghoulies with intense fighting scenes.

Archie has always seemed to come out on top, but how will he cope with the new nemesis without Jughead in toe to back him up?

Showrunners previously revealed that Jughead (Cole Sprouse) will not be attending Riverdale high for the group’s senior year.

This year’s San Diego Comic con revealed Jughead will be going to Prep school, so it is expected he will be spending a lot less time with his friends.

Moreover, Betty’s storyline is set to pick up from the events that took place last season, with her mother going undercover for her brother Charles who is working as an FBI agent.

The Jughead star also teased that Bughead’s relationship could come under stress, meaning Archie’s friends will have their fair share of distractions next season as he faces yet another threat.

Speaking at Comic-con, the Jughead star said: “I know that Betty’s storyline is much more integrated with Charles [Wyatt Nash] than Jughead’s is – at least from what I’ve read thus far.

“But I don’t see it as — I mean, I’ve been asked a lot if it’s going to put tension into Betty and Jughead’s relationship.

“As of now, it doesn’t look like that’s where it’s going. But Jughead’s only in Riverdale on the weekends now.

“So his main storyline is the prep school, which is the sort of building blocks of the whole flash-forward thing that we’re doing with season 4, and it’s kind of the focus of the mystery this season – this very strange, elitist prep school.

“But I don’t know how much interaction Charles and Jughead are actually going to have this season.”

How will Archie cope with his closest allies elsewhere as a new nemesis circles in?

Riverdale season 4 returns to The CW on October 10 and drops the following day on Netflix.
