Rita Ora breaks down in tears after an emotional showdown between Lachie Gill and Theoni Marks on The Voice Australia: ‘So much vulnerability’

Rita Ora broke down in tears as her artists went head-to-head in the Battle round on Sunday’s episode of The Voice Australia.

The British songstress, 31, became emotional after Lachie Gill and Theoni Marks performed Shawn Mendes’ hit OK, in their bid to make it through to the semi-final.

After their incredible performance, Rita praised Lachie for his ‘vulnerability’ before gushing over Theoni’s ‘angelic tone’.

‘The conviction Lachie that you gave, I just believed everything that you said. So much vulnerability. So much hard work has gone into that,’ Rita said as she fought back tears.

‘You should really be proud of that because I saw how much you worked on yourself. I can see it,’ she continued.

The Body on Me hit-maker went on to praise Theoni for her stellar vocals.

‘Theoni you have that incredible presence… like that angelic tone that has so much in it. It’s like a portal and then you just get in and it’s like “wow”.’

Rita went on to joke that putting such talented singers together was ‘probably the dumbest thing’ she’s ever done.

The coach chose Lachie to progress to the semi-final, as well as teenager Xanthe Campbell in her battle round against Liam Keates-Ryley.

Lachie revealed it’s a ‘dream’ he never thought was ‘possible’ and paid tribute to his mate Robbie Dolan (also from Team Rita), who vowed to keep on singing.

Rita and fellow coach Jessica Mauboy had the difficult job in only taking two of their artists through to the semi-final.

Jess chose to progress Faith Sosene and Jael Wena through to the next round.

Superstar coach Guy Sebastian also took to the stage with a special performance of some of his biggest hits including Before I Go, Battle Scars and Who’s That Girl.
