Riot unwraps details on the first two games releasing under its Riot Forge publishing label

Riot has revealed the first games to be published under its third-party publishing venture, Riot Forge: Ruined King: A League of Legends Story and CONV/RGENCE: A League of Legends Story.

Debuting at The Game Awards, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is a story-driven, turn based role-playing game in development by Darksiders Genesis studio Airship Syndicate, and it’s coming to consoles and PC.

“Set after the events of Burning Tides, players will take control of LoL champions and explore the bustling city of Bilgewater and the mysterious Shadow Isles in a game for the first time,” the video description explains. “Featuring fan favorite champions, innovative turn-based combat, and beautiful art direction along with brand new surprises and plenty of poros, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story advances the stories of many champions in the LoL Universe and offers an exciting new way to experience the World of Runeterra.”

CONV/RGENCE: A League of Legends Story, on the other hand, is a single player, action platformer game being developed by Double Stallion Games.

“We are thrilled to announce our first two partnerships with Airship Syndicate and Double Stallion Games, who really understand how to bring their unique style to the League of Legends Universe and tell deep stories that players can immerse themselves in,” said Leanne Loombe, Head of Riot Forge. “This is just the beginning, we have multiple games in development and are excited to get them out to players.”

Riot Games announced it was collaborating with “proven” third-party developers as part of a new publishing venture, Riot Forge, to create new games based within the League of Legends universe just last week.

Riot Forge – which “will focus on creating fresh and compelling gaming experiences for players around the world while also complementing already existing titles with the aim of unleashing their full potential” – says it will work closely with its third-party developers “to ensure they are supported by Riot’s teams to create fun, compelling and unique game experiences in their own voice within the League of Legends Universe”.

The company says it has “multiple titles in development” and will release “new game experiences that have yet to be seen, complementing the multiple new titles debuted by Riot Games during its 10-Year Anniversary Edition Riot Pls”.
