Riot Games announces teams for CBLoL long-term partnership model

Riot Games has unveiled the 10 chosen teams for its Brazilian League of Legends competition, Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLoL).

The league has adopted a long-term partnership model, as seen in the Chinese LPL, European LEC, and North American LCS.

It’s said that almost 20 organisations showed formal interest in becoming a partner for the CBLoL, which is moving to a partnership format instead of having an open league. Only 10 slots had been allocated for the competition, however, and Riot Games whittled down the applicants over the course of a process that includes numerous stages.

The teams that have been selected following the multiple rounds of consideration, including a formal application and the submittal of organisational documentation, are as follows:

  • ESports Cruise
  • Falkol Prodigy
  • Flamengo Esports
  • FURIA Esports
  • INTZ
  • Kaboom! e-Sports
  • LOUD
  • paiN Gaming
  • Red Canids Kalunga
  • Rensga Esports

Following in the footsteps of LCS, LEC, LPL, and now CBLoL, is the Korean competition known as LCK.

Carlos Antunes, Head of Esports at Riot Games in Brazil, spoke on the selection: “We were really impressed with the high quality and the vision of several teams, both among those who were already present at CBLoL and at the Challenging Circuit, as well as other Esports organizations that saw in this project the opportunity to enter the official competitive scenario of League of Legends, contributing to the growth of the League.

“We are confident that organizations are committed to the evolution of our scenario in various dimensions, willing to invest in resources and strategic planning, opening a new chapter in the history of CBLoL.”

Esports Insider says: Brazil has an incredibly passionate fan base when it comes to esports and there are plenty of teams that have tapped into that audience expertly. The likes of Flamengo, INTZ, LOUD, and paiN are very good and safe choices by Riot Games.
