RIO Ferdinand is adding teeth to his home security with a tough guard dog.
The former England ace posted a picture of himself with the German shepherd, which is being trained by a dog protection company.
TV pundit Rio, 41, often works away from home and is keen his wife Kate, 29, and three children are safe in their South East London mansion.
A source said: “They already have stringent measures in place but you can’t be too careful.
“They also love going out for walks as a family in the countryside, so having a dog makes sense.”
Rio’s guard dog arrived days after Spurs star Jan Vertonghen’s family was held at knifepoint by burglars at home in North West London.
The defender, 32, was playing in Germany at the time.
Scores of Premier League stars, including Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard, have also bought dogs from Chaperone K9 amid fears over so-called Away Day robbers.
