Rio Ferdinand puts the honeymoon on hold as he returns to work four DAYS after marrying Kate Wright in Turkey (and admits she knows ‘football is the priority!’)

- Sportsman Rio’s daughter Tia, eight, served as Kate’s maid of honour, while his sons Lorenz, 13, and Tate, 11, walked her halfway down the aisle
- But Rio was back at work on Tuesday evening, just four days after exchanging vows with his new wife
He exchanged vows with Kate Wright in front of close friends and family members in Turkey on Friday.
But the honeymoon was put on hold as Rio Ferdinand returned work just four days later for a busy week of Champions League fixtures – starting with Tottenham Hotspur’s home match against Bayern Munich.
The former Manchester United and England legend was fulfilling his punditry duties alongside Owen Hargreaves, Peter Crouch and BT Sports host Gary Lineker.

But football talk was brushed to one side as Lineker addressed the elephant in the room ahead of Tuesday night’s north London fixture.
Turning to the retired sportsman, he remarked: ‘Rio shouldn’t you be on your honeymoon?’
‘No, no, no, we will leave that to another time,’ he replied. ‘We have important things to do here in the studio.’

With tongue firmly in cheek, Lineker prompted loud laughter from the studio as he joked: ‘Football is always the priority, is that right?’
To which Ferdinand replied: ‘Yes, and she knows that!’

Since their lavish nuptials Kate has made their marriage Instagram official and has changed her surname from Wright to Ferdinand on the photo-sharing site.
On the day, Rio cut a dapper figure in a dark three-piece suit, smiling ear to ear as he wraps his arm around his new bride just moments after they said ‘I do’ at their wedding ceremony.
But Kate later revealed to OK! that their nuptials didn’t come without some major stress, as she was tasked with finding a new wedding dress with just one week to spare.

She explained: ‘I had been having a dress made since January but it all went wrong and it just wasn’t made right. A week before we flew to Turkey, I still didn’t have a dress. it was a total nightmare and I was stressed!’
The newlywed beauty added: ‘I had to have an entire new dress made by The Wedding Club and fitted within a week. In the end I adored my dress and preferred it to the original. Some things are meant to be.’
The pair announced their engagement in November after he proposed to her on a family trip to Abu Dhabi with his three children – Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, eight, with the late Rebecca Ellison.
The former England star first started dating Kate in late 2016, following the death of his wife Rebecca – who is the mother of his three children – in 2015.
Following Rebecca’s passing, Rio has been open about the struggles of raising his children without her. Kate has since formed a close bond with his offspring.
According to Daily Sabah, the Mayor of Marmaris told Demirören News Agency (DHA) that he officiated the wedding of the couple on Friday night in front of a crowd of exclusive guests.
Mehmet shared: ‘Both the couple and the guests told me that they enjoyed Marmaris a lot. Ferdinand said they will visit Marmaris in the years to come.’
