Rio Ferdinand would love Manchester United to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane – but he can’t see it happening.
Kane has developed into one of the world’s best strikers at Tottenham and is set to be one of this summer’s hottest transfer properties, with United, Manchester City and Juventus all keen on the England centre-forward.
The 26-year-old has four years left on his contract with Spurs, but may be tempted to pursue his dreams elsewhere this summer another trophyless season.
Tottenham are currently eighth in the Premier League table and out of all cup competitions with football suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
And if and when the action resumes, Jose Mourinho’s side will face an uphill struggle to qualify for next season’s Champions League as they are currently seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

But United legend Ferdinand reckons it’s unlikely prolific hitman Kane will join his former club this summer – even if the Red Devils manage to sneak into Europe’s top club competition for next term.
Ferdinand doesn’t reckon Tottenham will sell their star man to a Premier League rival – and says Mourinho won’t sanction the sale of a player to his former employers, having been sacked as United manager in December 2018.
“Of course you’d take Harry Kane because he’s a top player, guaranteeing goals, but I don’t see Tottenham letting him go,” said Ferdinand.
“Mourinho wouldn’t let him go to Man Utd.”

Kane has scored 136 goals in 198 Premier League appearances for Tottenham.
He is currently out of action after undergoing hamstring surgery, but is hopeful of returning to full training in around three weeks’ time.
Kane said: “I’m good. From a rehab point of view and personal point of view, I’m doing really well.
“I’m at a good stage now and just working hard, doing a lot of recovery, a lot of rehab and just waiting to see what happens to the season.
“Other than that, my family is well, and obviously everyone is thinking about coronavirus at the moment and it’s a time to be together, to stay safe and hopefully everything will be alright.”
