Since its launch back in 2017, Savage x Fenty – Rihanna‘s sultry lingerie line – has been repping people of all gender identities, sexualities, and body shapes. If the Savage x Pride collection, which celebrated diversity within the LGBTQIA+ community, wasn’t glorious enough, Savage X Fenty just dropped their first ever all curvy campaign.
Yep, last Friday (30 July 2021) Rihanna released the August campaign for Savage x Fenty with a little help from her friends in New Orleans. Modelling the 100-piece, size-inclusive collection of lingeries was the Caramel Curves, a biker gang consisting of black women who live in New Orleans.
RiRi described the gang best, telling British Vogue, “The Caramel Curves show the world what being a badass boss is all about, while bringing sexiness along for the ride.”
The Caramel Curves, made up of mothers, small-business owners and community leaders, will model Savage X Fenty’s electric August 2021 drop, as well as the VIP Xtras, which will be available in sizes 30A to 42H and XS to 3XL.
Nakosha “Coco” Smith, one of the co-founders of Caramel Curves, explains: “So being a biker girl in New Orleans riding with the boys, it was fun — but I knew riding with a group of badass women, with heels on, looking sexy, was gonna kill the streets.
“It’s good to have somebody that you can call on that genuinely loves you. All because we have one and the same love — that’s for bikes.”
Another co-founder, Shanika “Tru” Beatty added, “When the Caramel Curves get together, it’s like a crew of bad b*tches riding together.
“It doesn’t matter what day of the week we get together, but if we’re riding together it’s like eye turning, it’s like horns honking, people waving, it’s great.”
