Rihanna has shared her fitness regime and healthy eating plan that has kept her going during lockdown.

The singer takes both her physical and mental health seriously, ensuring she puts time aside for rest and relaxation at home, either watching a film or diving into reality TV series Vanderpump Rules.

However she doesn’t ‘deprive’ herself and if she fancies tucking into a cheeseburger, that’s exactly what she does.

Rihanna told ELLE: ‘I’m someone who likes to feel in control and last year was tough in that, like so many of us, I felt like that wasn’t the case. That’s why it’s so important to be kind to yourself.

‘A pamper evening, a chilled night where you order in your favourite food – whatever makes you feel good. For me, that’s a movie night and ice cream.’

The Work singer likes to ‘mix it up’ when it comes to food and her Barbadian heritage comes into her cooking.

‘My Barbadian roots are very important to me and I love the island’s cuisine, so lunch is often spicy seasoned chicken with salad and dinner is fresh fish with rice,’ she added.

‘I like to eat healthily and I do – but at the same time I don’t deprive myself; if I want a cheeseburger, I’ll have one.’

Rihanna has used her time at home to ‘focus on music and really get creative’, which is great news for her fans who keep demanding another album.

Her most recent update on R9 was in October 2020, when she shared she is using ‘music as an outlet’ in these tough times while focusing on her growing beauty and fashion businesses.

Rihanna told AP she had already held ‘tons of writing camps’ with potential songwriters to hunt down the best tracks.

‘You do pop, you did this genre, you do that, you do radio, but now it’s just like, what makes me happy? I just want to have fun with music,’ she said.

‘Everything is so heavy. The world that we live in is a lot. It’s overwhelming every single day. And with the music, I’m using that as my outlet.’
