Ricky Gervais has revealed he has had his first coronavirus vaccine – and described the battle against the pandemic in his own inimitable way.
The comedian, 59, shared a photo of himself at the vaccination centre with his sleeve rolled up as he got the jab.
Proving he was taking no prisoners when it comes to beating the pandemic, he added: ‘Take that, you Covid c**t!’
Ricky’s tweet racked up a huge 58,000 likes within the first four hours, and one follower asked: ‘Why are people so keen to share this?’ Not missing the punchline, Ricky replied: ‘It’s infectious.’
Ricky didn’t reveal which vaccine he had received, but it comes just days after This Morning host Phillip Schofield revealed he had received the Oxford AstraZeneca jab.
Sharing a photo of himself getting the vaccine on his Instagram story, he wrote: ‘All painlessly jabbed up, that couldn’t have been any easier, more efficient or friendlier, thank you to Lisa and the team.’
He told Holly Willoughby on Wednesday’s show: ‘Booking online with the NHS app is so simple, I picked my time, picked my day, went along and had my vaccine.
‘The team was absolutely delightful, and it didn’t even hurt at all. That’s number one done, I had the Oxford one, waiting for the second one to be filled in, in about 12 weeks time.’
Holly added that she also ‘can’t wait to get hers done’, as Phil informed her: ‘The whole experience was efficient and friendly, don’t be nervous.’
Other stars who have had the jab recently include Lorraine Kelly and McMafia star James McMahon, 35, who was eligible as he has Type 1 diabetes.
The UK’s vaccine roll-out has been highly praised, with Health Secretary Matt Hancock saying: ‘You can really see the effects of the vaccine in the number of deaths.
‘That link from cases to hospitalisations and then deaths that had been unbreakable before the vaccine is now breaking. The vaccine is protecting the NHS and saving lives, right across the country.’
