Richard Osman has thrown shade at the Strictly Come Dancing curse and has compared the show’s antics to Love Island.

Not holding back on his Channel 4 panel show World Cup Of The Decade, the Pointless presenter made the dig about the behind-the-scenes scandals of the series as he was joined by guests Lorraine Kelly, Jon Richardson, Rhianna Dhillon, and Alex Brooker.

‘They asked me to go on Celebrity Love Island but I said look if all I want to do is get a tan and sleep with a celebrity, I’ll do Strictly,’ Richard quipped.

The celebrity guests burst out into laughter before Richard added: ‘They should stop f***ing each other.’

Yikes.

Richard then swiftly moved the conversation on to talk about Love Island.

‘I just love everything about it,’ Alex said. ‘I just love the drama. I love the fact they’ve managed to get young British people to go to Mallorca and have sex.

‘I mean, who’d have thought that would be possible?’

The infamous Strictly curse is when a celebrity and/or their dance partners go through a public breakup during their time on the BBC dance competition.

Whether the cause is all the hours spent away rehearsing, the sometimes-undeniable chemistry between dance partners or just bad timing, the ‘curse’ has worked its black magic on nearly a dozen couples throughout the show’s existence.

Neil and Katya Jones were hit by the curse in 2018, when Katya and Seann Walsh were caught kissing in a London street.

The fallout was pretty epic, with Katya wearing a pointed message to her haters recently. Neil and Katya announced their separation not long after, but both remain on the show this year.

That same year, Dianne Buswell and her celebrity partner Joe Sugg ended up in a relationship, as did champion Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton.

Richard Osman’s World Cup Of The Decade is available for catch-up on Channel 4OD.
